IESP aims to increase both our sense of responsibility for our Earth System and our ablity to judge which courses of action are necessary to ensure a safe future for the next generations. To do so, it is essential that relevant knowledge is easily accessible to every interested person with access to the internet.

Recommended internet sites for readings on global problems:
- Environment360. Environmental commentaries on environmental problems and policies, coordinated by Yale University.
- German Advisory on Global Change (WBGU). Independent scientific advisory board to deal with global problems.
- RealClimate. Commentaries by climate scientists on recent questions in climate change science.
- Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI). Independent international research institute on global problems, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
- The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). Institute to help tackle global problems, led by Nobel Laureate Pachauri, based in India.
- Union of Concerned Scientists. The leading US science-based nonprofit working for a
healthy environment and a safer world. UCS combines independent scientific
research and citizen action to develop innovative, practical solutions and to
secure responsible changes in government policy, corporate practices, and
consumer choices.
- United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP). It
informs and enables nations and peoples to improve their quality of life
without compromising that of future generations.
