Welcome to IESP!

We are a group of scientists, politicians, and business representatives who are deeply concerned about the future of humanity, and who strive to find solutions for the current earth crises. We are convinced that none of the earth crises can be solved by itself, but that integrated solutions are needed - solutions that recognize and work with the interconnectedness among the different parts of the Earth System.

The goals and mission of IESP are summarized in the “Zugspitze Declaration on the Responsibility of Humanity for the Functioning of the Earth System."

To raise awareness and develop solutions, we are organizing workshops and meetings, the most recent ones include:

June 23, 2010; Munich, Germany:

"Earth System Engineering: Methods for a sustainable solution to the earth's crises"

A one-day event at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. A summary can be read here.

May 6, 2010; Shanghai, China

Earth System Engineering: Challenges and Chances for the Water Sector

Workshop on Earth System Engineering at the IFAT Shanghai. For details see here.

February, 2010; Mannheim, Germany

Workshop on the future energy program of Germany. This workshop led to a 10-point program for sustainable, market-oriented, and globally responsible energy politics which subsequently was submitted to politicians in Berlin.  See the ten-point program.
